IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Set a Throughput occupancy threshold for TS7700

The client wants the TS7700 to have the option to parameterize a Threshold of Throughput, to monitor its occupancy, and when it exceeds the threshold send a message to the system.

While IBM agrees there would be some benefit to providing the requested alert, throughput information is currently available in the Management Interface and in the statistics that can be reported by BVIR. Users who are interested in the monitoring their host throughput should use these existing tools.

The client proposes to be able to execute a command to a GRID cluster that shows the activity of throughput.

If I can comment this requirement, this has been raised with the meaning of a better use of the performance increments feature of TS7700 (FC5268).
If the customer has a 1000MB/sec limit (one base perf. increment plus 9 additional FC5268), they would like to know in advance (possibly with a warning message) when they are - let's say - at 90% of their limit, 900MB/sec. In this way they can better monitor the performance capability of the system, managing the workload assignment for each cluster, and hopefully having also the possibility to better plan for the acquisition of additional performance increments.
