This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

With zOS 3.2, DFSMS Cloud Data Manager (CDM) product along with Cloud Data Access (CDA), provides at a zOS software level, the capability to leverage S3 Cloud Storage. Once the TS7700 Partition is opened up as S3 and used directly by zOS, then the sharing of Mainframe data between other System z environments and Open Systems is truly achievable. Rather than using protocols such as FTP, SFTP, NJE or even shared DASD volumes to share Mainframe data, the S3 in the TS7700 could be used instead.
Agreed....S3 becoming a common denominator interface, which should be supported by storage devices supporting each environment. This would also enhance the HA/DR and tiering capabilities that the TS7700 has excelled at..with an interface many are moving to.
S3 is the new Bluetooth of connectivity. Of course the industry Flagship VTL TS7700 should have it!
