• Problem Description:
Each task/job using a virtual tape drive of a TS7700 cluster gets an equal fraction of the overall (licensed) bandwidth regardless of its importance or the current utilization (read or write, backup or recovery).
Examples:
– Db2 goes into a wait state because all active logs are used and the time-critical log archiving to virtual tape is too slow because of high overall tape activities.
– Non-critical long running backups cause an elongation of a service outage because the recovery jobs get the same priority/throughput.
• Request:
Implement the possibility to prioritize important tasks/jobs so that they get best performance/throughput.
