Provide a possibility to Prioritize Work Load from customer side

TS7700 must provide a possibility to prioritize workload (Pre-Migration, Host I/O, Copy processes) on customer's demand.

TS7700 can have several limitations defined, which may lead to situation where front end (host I/O) work load is lower prioritized that backend or grid activity. This is the case for instance when PMTHLVL is exceeded and TS7700 starts throttling the host I/O.

This is the case for instance when Pre-Migration is working for data which is already cached. Host I/O will get throttled when reaching PMTHLVL, but there is no need to exceed the defined limit of PMTHLVL.

With the possibility of prioritizing work load the premigration would take longer, but host I/O would not be impacted, or impacted less.

The issue you hit is avoidable. We have a White Paper titled TS7700 Library Request Command that covers the ability to manage this area.
