Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

While consistent with our current product direction, we cannot at this time commit to delivery of this enhancement in the next release or two.  If,
after our next release of TSM, you still would like this requirement to be re-considered, please reopen it in RFE and we will again consider it. Thank you
for your commitment to TSM and for your support in moving the product forward.

Hi, sorry for the late response. I know there is the capability to archive data at a directory for ACTIVE data. I am trying to archive INACTIVE data which could include deleted data or version data. I would like the ability to include the INACTIVE data in the archive without restoring it back to disk first. It seems that TSM would know which is ACTIVE and which is INACTIVE at a directory level and be able to archive both to tape. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Is there the ability to archive INACTIVE data for long term retention? This is data that no longer exists (or has changed) on disk. I need the ability to migrate all inactive data associated with a directory to one tape.

How do I get ahold of you to further explain my exact requirement?

Thank you for submitting the request. In TSM there is ability to archive data at a directory level for long term retention and we need more information on your exact requirement to understand if there is another function we should provide.
