This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

My client is trying to archive and doesn't want to archive an entire directory (including subdirectories)
In backup operations, there is a command that is exclude.dir through which that directory is not included in the copy.
We wanted to request the IDEA of being able to have a similar command for archiving operations since it currently does not exist.
Currently the archives take all the paths and there are only two possibilities, which are to exclude files or launch a command specifying only the paths that you want to archive.
Regarding the first option, we have a workaround that can help not take the files from directories and subdirectories, but it will always take the folders even if they are empty.
Example of exclude commands to not archive files:
The other option is to launch a command "archive /directory1 /directory2 /directory3" and thus archive only the directories that you want, but this option is not good if you use clientoptionset since it affects several client servers and not all have the same directories to include, with which they can lose data in the archiving process.
The creation of an exclude for directories and subdirectories in archiving operations is requested, since we believe that it may be interesting for many clients
