This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Thank you for submitting this enhancement request, and please accept my apologies for the delayed response, while this RFE doesn't contain a lot of details on this subject here is a more detailed description taken from the associated PMR
DB2 had been setup with automatic storage and utilizes DB2 IO parallelism on multiple containers per tablespace. This is done during the DB creation by specifying multiple times the same path
for example: /db2/FA, /db2/FA, /db2/FA, /db2/FA
DB2 creates 4 containers for each tablespace in this same directoy. This increases the performance of DB2 even if the containers reside on the same filesystem.
Unfortunately FCM operation initiated by DB2 will fail, We do understand the requirement and the rationale behind it and are planning to address this in the short term by providing a documented workaround that will require customers to use a different methodology to increase the IO by utilizing multiple filespaces.
