FlashCopy Manager should support also NetApp for Flash copies under Unix

The FlashCopy Manager supports currently only the IBM subsystems DS8000, SVC, V7000 and XIV. Many customers are using NetApp storage because of their comprehensive snapshot and replication functionality. These customers want to use TSM as the Unified Recovery Management solution. For this reason we have to support with our FCM also NetApp Snapshots (Backup, Restore, Replication with SnapMirror/SnapVault, for all Applications, in virtualized and native Environments). The implementation effort will be moderate (partially already tested).
If we will not get this support in our products, customers have to look for one of the growing alternatives outside the TSM / FCM product family, which will have a very negative impact for our future revenue stream.

    The base FCM support of NetApp Snapshots has been delivered in 3.2 and 4.1. We are continuing to broaden our support in future releases.
