FEPOC owns Flashcopy Manager for DB2 and has performed a Proof of Concept (POC) and identified changes required to the current DB2 environment in order to implement flashcopy. A problem was identified in the POC based on CCTI's unique architecture of running 3 databases under one DB2 database instance. The Flashcopy Manager for DB2 product is not configured to work with multiple databases in a single database instance, it is configured to work with database instances that have a single database. A work around was identified in the POC to enable flashcopy backups with multiple databases in a single database instance.
The requirement with Flashcopy Manager for DB2 is to snap a copy of the PROD database Source to a backup Target that will be accessed by the Backup Database Server. The Target data will also be backed up using DDBoost to the Data Domain environment.
