This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Hi,
A vApp can contain anything from one to maybe 100's of vm's. It is very rarely that the entire vApp needs to be restored. Most of the times I only need to restore one vm (out of 10+ vm's in vApp). It is therefor a more timeconsuming process to restore 1 Tb, instead of 10 Gb.
If the vm can be restored to a new vApp, or to an existing vApp or as a last resort just restore it as a standalone vm. I can import it to the customer afterwards.
Rgds,
Håkon Tønder-Keul
Thank you for submitting this request. As we continue to assess this enhancement for candidacy in a release, it would be helpful if you could provide more information. We understand that you are suggesting a solution for efficiency. Do you have more information you can provide? What is an example of a specific use case? How often do you think you would need to perform this kind of single VM restore for a vApp? Our direction has been to suppor vApps but not at the single VM level. If you can help us understand the scenarios better, this will move us forward in our discussions.
