Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

This functionality has been delivered as part of TSM 6.3.4 as part of the Operations Center support. We have alerts now, and further improvements are plannedfor an upcoming release.

This is being considered for a future release of TSM, The ability of the server to "push" status/alerts is needed in order to get to some sort of an administrative dashboard.

Thanks for looking at this RFE.
Currently TSM doesnt have way to email out , We are depending OS shell scripts to automate the admin jobs, and report ,since OS shell allows to send email (or email page) the job status. If the TSM or TSM scripts can send email on run and operational status it would be easier and less exposure of using admin passwords on OS scripts. I can give mulitple use of email function.
    Eg
1.TSM script to run backup stgpool and when complete and eject tapes , send email send to vendor pick up the tapes.
2.TSM admin pr client backup scheduled failed - send email to repective owners.
    3. Critical errors , situation leading to crash - email to pager of TSM admin.

I understand there is TCR, but automation within TSM needs way to send status out on real time. I hope there is lot of potential to grow on this , without depending on complicated external products.

Our environment is TSM 6.2.x, runnining on AIX 6.1 , and clients on AIX,Windows, linux. We currently 14 TSM servers in HACMP/XD setup.
    and around 3000 clients.

Please let me know if need further info.

Thanks for submitting this enhancement request, this requirement does not contain enough information. please provide more details about your requirement including the business reason (impact to SLAs, reduced RPO etc.), technical functionality (what are you trying to achieve, and why do they think it should be done in this specific way etc.), reason why current implementation and best practices aren't working for you, for example the TCR can be customized send out emails with reports about your TSM environments
also, some additional details about your current environment (for example a TSM 6.2 server running on AIX, the client is running on RHEL etc.) we need these details to fully understand this requirement
