Client Code Deployment for TDP modules

Currently, TSM has the ability to deploy the standard Backup & Archive clients from a central location. It would be very useful to have the same ability for TDP for Databases and TDP for Mail as well.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

Thank you for submitting the request. This is a recognized requirement and a solution appears to be desirable. This request is not in a committed release plan for this year,
but the theme is aligned with our multi-year strategy, and will be a candidate for our future release. IBM’s plans may change and no commitment is made that a solution will be provided.

    Hi Developers,

We would like to be able to centrally manage the TDP modules for all nodes and to be able to push newer versions to our nodes once we have acquired the packages. The example of what we are looking for is to mass upgrade hundreds (300+) of servers with a mixture of TDP Domino, SQL and Oracle to a stable software release prior to upgrading our TSM Servers to 7.1 (We have several servers with old 5.3-6.2 releases of TDP installed).
Currently, we are upgrading TDP modules in a manual way by logging onto each server to upgrade the software. This is inefficient for us as we are a small team with a large workload. Upgrading TSM/TDP is usually rarely done in the duration of the server lifecycle and is usually using the same version when we remove the server.
We would like to see this be a reality as we currently have a few hundred servers with databases we protect with TDP. Ideally, we would like to have it centrally managed from the TSM Operations Center to check the nodes on the TSM Servers, and to deploy updates to nodes when we set the criteria to do so with a newer version of TDP.

Thank you for submitting this request. The IBM team would like to understand a little bit more about the details of what pain point you have. Could you provide an example of what you would like to achieve? For example are you trying to simply upgrade your TDPs? What are the specific pain points do you have in that process? Do you have a large number of TDPs to update (e.g. hundreds or thousands) or is the pain point something else?
