Allow monitor role to execute cpdumps command

To pull performance stats from non config nodes the cpdumps command is used. Unfortunately users in the Monitor group are not authorized to run this command. The resulting error is "CMMVC6253E The task has failed because the user's role is not authorized to submit the command."

This has been delivered in 8.3.1.2 - data collection can be done with monitor role.

2Q release of Storage Insights supports this change along with Spectrum Control version 5.3.7

    Hi,

I am the Security Focal for Storage Insights, and from a Security point of view, fulfilling this request is very important.

The Admin role of a SVC/Storwize has the ability to modify the configuration of the storage system, so we want to limit the use of that role in Storage Insights as much as possible. Collecting performance data needs to be able to be performed by a read-only user.

This follows a common principle of data access that dictates the minimum amount of access required be granted for a particular business need.

    Thanks!

Definitely good to have. There's no reason an IBM recommended tool (Stor2RRD) or any other should need full admin access to the SANs just to pull statistics and monitor.

This would be a great feature to have. I don't like the fact that I have to set my tpcuser to Administrator when all it is doing is monitoring.

    Alternate solutions might be:

    * Have the device automatically copy files in /dumps/iostats/ to the configuration node as they are created.

    * Create a new command, cpiostats [node], which is executable by the Monitor role, and which internally runs "cpdumps -prefix=/dumps/iostats [node]" or similar.

    * Allow the Service user to execute the cpdumps command.
This would be better than the current state (monitoring scripts wouldn't need the Administrator role), but not optimal.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize
