Battery reconditioning required. Give the customer an option of an automated process

Since SVC, V7000, V5000, and The FS900 all share some of the same code I'll Use the V5000 as the example. My customer asked why are they bothered with having to take action when they receive a notification that "Battery reconditioning is required" Below are the knowledgecenter URLS for both a FlashSystem900 and a V5000. Why doesn't this just do this on it's own? Why is user intervention needed? Can you please answer or forward to your contacts that might be able to answer this?

I received the following explanation as to why:

The battery conditioning "logic" was implemented this way by design. For better or worse, the development team chose this path due to the fact that the reconditioning of the battery does remove some level of redundancy in the product. For this reason, they felt that it should require customer intervention for two main reasons. First, for awareness that a small loss of redundancy will take place. Second, to allow the customer to schedule when the reconditioning is to take place.

The design request isn't too blanketly automate the battery reconditioning process, but rather to give the customer an option of an automated process if they so choose.
