V7000 / V3700 / SVC GUI Based Flashcopy Scheduler

Our customers are requesting an enhancement to the V7000 to include a basic scheduler of flashcopies per LUN. EMC and Netapp both offer this compelling feature. Smaller shops do not want to purchase or deal with the complexity of Tivoli Flashcopy Manager on each server. A V7000 GUI scheduled approach will lead to a data inconsistent (due to no volume quiesce) flashcopy, however, it is convenient for customers and in may cases "good enough".

    Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:

    Product - IBM Storwize V7000, V5000 and V3000

    For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

    I agree, a small shop that has a few TB of data is not going to invest in a VSC license or have the ability to integrate a complex solution like FCM. Due to lack of features like that we are loosing these customers to NetApp, EMC, etc... it's a shame we only focus on the BIG things, and forget the small enhancements.

    A good idea, but not something we will prioritize in the product. Please license VSC to received FlashCopy Manager entitlement.

    This is the most basic functionality which every customer asks for today.
