This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Our company could greatly benefit from this IDEA as soon as possible.
Anytime we shut down our test system (which can happen multiple times a day, or every few weeks), the SGC functionality within the CSM environment fails & becomes unusable until we are able to perform a full restart of the CSM services.
For context, we have 3 zOS connections in CSM, one going to each of our 3 zOS LPARs (which share DASD) - so it's a very unusual design choice that IPLing one LPAR would take out the entire SGC functionality, as opposed to allowing the connection to fail over to one of the other active LPARs, or to have CSM continue to attempt to re-establish connectivity.
It is worth noting, that following a restart of CSM services it takes close to an hour before CSM fully regains functionality and is able to perform scheduled SGC Backups again.
Improving CSM so that it can 'self-recover' connections that have been lost due to regular Mainframe activities (such as an IPL of a singular LPAR), would remove a large manual effort from customers that are stuck trying to recover the environment.
Additionally, providing customers with a way to see which zOS Connection is the "Master" and the option to swap that role to a different zOS connection, is one I hope IBM will consider.
