IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

SPVE needs a Parameter to ignore failed quiesced snapshot if its not the last try

SPVE marks a schedule run with Warning if for one vm in the schedule one try to make a quiesced snapshot fails. This behavior makes no sense if INCLUDE.VMSNAPSHOTATTEMPTS is set to more than one quiesced snapshot try. It only makes sense if the la...

Summary of how time is spent on a job in dsminstr.log - i.e. by percentage to easily determining the primary bottlenecks

Currently, all the information in the dsminstr.log is by thread, and it would be fantastic to know how to summarize this information on a job-level. This is very hard - if not impossible - to do in the current state, as all information is per thre...

Remove the requirement for disabling UAC on application aware VE backups

As of now the use of the application aware Exchange backup with Spectrum Protect for Virtual Environments requires the permanent disabling of Windows UAC. We would like to see a different solution (that does not require Windows UAC to be disabled ...

Restore VM to the max. possible configuration in case of any issues detected instead to force restore only to minimal config

Hardware snapshot for VMware backups

We use SP for VE for backing up VMs and it works great for normal sized VMs.For VMs with big disks and high IO there is a performance penalty when there exists a vmware snapshot. The penalty is even bigger when removing the vmware snapshot and con...

Backup of encrypted vSphere 6.5 environments

Currently there is no support for backups of encrypted vSphere 6.5 environments with TSM/ISP4VE (which is stated in the documentation). Due to the fact that some customers require encryption for their VMware environments, support for the new (V6.5...
