This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

SPVE marks a schedule run with Warning if for one vm in the schedule one try to make a quiesced snapshot fails. This behavior makes no sense if INCLUDE.VMSNAPSHOTATTEMPTS is set to more than one quiesced snapshot try. It only makes sense if the last try to make a quiesced snapshot fails because this leads to a non-quiesced snapshot with a potentially inconsistent filesystem.
We need a change in the behavior to mark a schedule run as Warning because there is no need to analyse the logfiles (by manually rdping to the used datamover) if a consistent backup was made, even when the first snapshot try was not successful.
In discussion with support we thought the best way would be a testflag parameter for the opt file to handle this.

Hi
great feature
if you intention is to support VM servers running on KVM/XEN etc, than there arre other options, for example SPFS
SPFS provides a generic universal interface to Spectrum Protect storage
SPFS is a file system for Spectrum Protect
mounting the Spectrum Protect storage as a filesystem on the VM host, enables flexibility to use almost any type of data protection tools, such as proxmox etc
browsing/storing data is easy
everyone knows how to use a file system, right?
eg
# mount -t spfs /backup
and use whatever backup command preferred to use
# ls /backup
# cp xxx /backup
etc
Data retention is easily managed from the spectrum protect backup server
data is secure as spfs act as a worm media
