Fusion alternate namespace restores for Cloud Paks

Customer query - Will CPD 4.8 support via Fusion a restore of the same instance into a new namespace within the source cluster? That means I have two instances in different namespaces within the cluster.

This is a constant request from customers with Cloud Pak for Data (I'm sure other Cloud Pak too will have one) asking why can't Fusion restore to another namespace within the same cluster. I believe now newer versions of CPD can have two instances of CPD running on the same cluster, so why can't a restore job do that for them, is the ask.

Secondly, CPD only supports backup/restore as a means to achieve DR by restoring backups to an alternate cluster. Currently, overwrites/newer restores over previous restores are not allowed and hence the pre-requisite for CPD is to delete any existing instances even though they were restores from previous day. This is a huge risk if deleting the only instance on DR assuming the next restore will work. So, rather than delete and have no copy of DR running, they prefer to have it available and restore the latest and once they are happy with it, then delete the previous one.

These requests are inline with another request to have granular restores as an individual service level within CPD.

Similar situation with CP4BA, we have a large govt customer with multiple instances (i.e. environments) of CP4BA running in the same OpenShift cluster, this is to support their lifecycle where environments move thru different namespaces.
