Linux autostart two Spectrum Protect scheduler services using init.d to autostart services for two nodes on the same server

The Spectrum Protect scheduler services doesn't auto start scheduler services post reboot for two nodenames..

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spectrum-protect/8.1.6?topic=spso-setting-client-scheduler-process-run-as-background-task-start-automatically-startup

We tried the instructions in the tech doc..
https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/configuring-multiple-dsmcad-instances-single-linux-host

However we couldn't find one detailing the process for SLES 12 and above ..

We worked with the IBM Support and SLES support to find out any possibilities..

IBM support at the end requested us to raise the request via the RFE process..

We request you to provide this enhancement to be able to autostart services at reboot using init.d on SLES 12 and later as well as RHEL later versions for multiple nodes.

For systemd systems this could be done by the enhancement requested at

When needing multiple tsm nodes on the same machine we solve it by using proxy nodes accessible from the main machine node. Has the benefit of only requiring one dsmcad instance, and allows multiple machines access the same node (handy when doing clustering/failover for example).

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/spectrum-protect/8.1.14?topic=windows-scheduling-backups-client-node-proxy-support has the details needed to do the set up.

This request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.

    Hi Luther,

    I remember this one.
I will see if I can find some examples how we resolved this, we followed the IBM links that you provided.

May I know why you need double dsmcad processes running on the same server?
Is that due to cuncurrent running tasks, or that they have different nodes to manage?

    You can also go agentless.
But if you want the tasks to be monitored and scheduled centrally, you still need a "dsmc sched" or "dsmcad" to execute the tasks.
