This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

For report creation and amendment in Spectrum Control, users have to be given the Administrator role within it meaning that they have full access to do anything within Spectrum Control. The Monitor role does not allow report creation/amendment. Are there any plans to create another role within Spectrum Control to allow for report creation/amendment only and not give full rights? If this is offered in a higher revision can you please advise what revision it is offered in? If the answer is no to both the above questions, can you please consider adding this in as a new feature? We currently have a team who need to create reports but we do not want to give them full rights to the application to do this and the Monitor role they currently have does not allow then to do this
Can you please advise on whether this is available in later versions or can you please advise that you will add it as an improvement to Spectrum Control to create and offer report creation/amendment/deletion as a new role separate from the Administrator and Monitor roles going forwards?[

Thank you for reaching out to us. Currently this has not changed in the recent releases of Spectrum Control. The objective of the current design, was that one role can create/edit reports, which includes the setup of the delivery options. As such the task of creating and changing reports is something that would not be done of a daily basis. In addition any user in Control can export any table data, so essentially only the scheduling part is what one the admin can do, as the overall idea is not to log into Control to view those reports online.
As a work around you could consider using Cognos Analytics, where those users that have to create reports, don't need to have access to the Control UI as an admin.
Thanks for this suggestion. Spectrum Control is mostly a read only application, and there is little that you can actually change on any storage system, so can you explain what the reasons are that you feel, this group of users should be able to create/amend reports? Also it sounds that there is a need to frequently create/adjust reports. can you explain this part a well? The reports were designed as batch reports, and perhaps we overlooked some of the use cases, which is why I want to learn more about how the reporting feature is being used in your environment.
To implement such a change, would you expect anyone belonging to a certain "report generation group" be able to just change any report, or only their own? What about reports created by higher level admins, should the users also be able to change those reports?
Thanks for your feedback.
you could use Cognos (which is included in the SC license) for reporting instead. Cognos offers a very granular authorization concept.
