This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Tivoli
Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize
This would add consistency between IBM products XIV and SVC. Emerson is a big XIV customer and could be a huge showcase for IBM as first XIV and now SVC and V3700 are gradually replacing their EMC environment with huge additional potential business for TSM and IBM tape libraries. We need to get this done as we are talking potentially 6 PB of managed disk behind SVC in the Emerson environment!
I attached 2 pics.. Its a ease of use administration issue. When its enabled by default like it is, everytime we want to map new luns it goes to LUN0. Then we have to manually move it out. If it was disabled like the XIV attachments it woudl save my admins from constantly moving luns out of LUN0 into other lun #'s. If its easier for a call i am willing to do this.
Attachment (Description): Right clicking on SCSI ID0 allows you to enable it
Attachment (Description): Grayed out SCSI ID 0 on XIV.
We have set that default to SCSI ID0 from the beginning and allow users to change it. What is less clear in this request is what problem having the SCSI ID0 set (or defaulting to it) is causing. Could you describe the OS in use? Is there a boot from SAN conflict it creates? We'll try to give more consideration to a solution based on your use case. Thank you.
