Abitlity to adjust MTU size on Ethernet ports that have an IP address

I’m working with a customer who is implementing NVMe/TCP on an FS9600 in their Lab. They are concerned that they have to remove the IP address from the Ethernet port to increase MTU to 9000.

I explained this was as designed, to protect traffic that might be using that port. Also, that if you know you’re configuring the system to be in an NVMe/TCP environment, you’d configure MTU size during installation. Their response was as follows:

"I’m thinking if there was a misconfiguration where you had to change the MTU later on, having to delete all the IPs on the ports to change the MTU would be a major nuisance. If it wasn’t set initially to the correct value we’d like the ability to set it to the correct value after the IP has been configured. This is allowed on most OS’s and other storage systems. This is the first system that won’t allow change of MTU on an interface without having to delete the IP that I know of. Wouldn’t having to delete the IP on the interface (removing the target) be even more disruptive than just changing the MTU?"

I reached out to @Kushal Patel who asked I submit an RFE for this. He agreed this is probably an area we need to enhance.
