This looks great idea.
I have prospect customer who compare FlashSystem with DELL PowerStore. Apparently the customer needs application aware scheduled snapshot on secondary storage, and DELL PowerStore provides such function with their GUI. I am in the heat competition against DELL PowerStore, and I need desparately this function otherwise I cannnot beat DELL PowerStore.
Pls have FlashSystem get the function of application aware snapshot on secondary storage with GUI soon.
By the way the prospect customer tested FlashSystem 7300 and 5200 with the latest software version 8.7.x and the customer test with Policy based replication and they found DELL PowerStore is much better in functionality.
Great! I just requested this solution yesterday by the customer who use netapp as existing storage.
They feels netapp has the manageability advantage against IBM bacause of netupp has this function,
by another side, as IBM recognize this solution in Virtualize, they say netapp advantage will be disappear.
We have reviewed this request and believe it is a good candidate for FlashSystem / Virtualize.
Policy-based replication does not have a manual mode, to pause and quiesce, everything is automated. But we plan to enable replicated snapshots in the future, which should meet this requirement.
Thank you for submitting this Idea. We are currently evaluating your request.
Thanks,
