This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The command line actions used are shown when a GUI action is completed, but this does not always map to a specific API call or sequence of API calls. It would be helpful for those trying to move to automated workflows to see what the API call would be for a specific action in addition to the CLI commands. This helps users new to calling APIs determine how best to use the API in the future. A reference language (Python) or even CLI curl calls could be used to describe the API call(s) that would result in the recently completed action.

Thanks for the additional info, The development team will review
As part of account creation and other user support tasks, we have a number of scripts that login to the management node and run shell commands. A more efficient, adaptable, and testable method would be using API calls to the GPFS system. We are trying to modify our automation scripts to use API calls when available instead of logging into systems and running shell commands. Although the API documentation exists, it is not always clear which API call(s) would result in the desired outcome. By seeing the API calls that would have been used to accomplish the desired action, that lets us look at the specific API call documentation needed to update our automation scripts. This is similar to how the GUI shows the shell commands run to accomplish an action, but that does not always translate directly to spcefic API usuage. Having an option to display the output as API calls instead of shell commands would be usefull in moving to a more API driven automation tooling and away from root shell commands.
Can you please provide more detail around the use case you are trying to accomplish, our development team does not understand the request and is looking for more detail in order to evaluate this. Thanks.
