This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

So for the ESS Storage Building Blocks we want to install our monitoring software, log collection software (currently splunk but may change over time) which have dependencies on RHEL packages that the ESS Bundle does not ship.
On the ESM Nodes (which also use the ESS bundle) we want to run our home grown management software (mainly python3 but again with a few modules that have dependencies to RHEL packages ESS bundle does not provide), have a working LDAP client connection (which currently is also not possible with the ESS bundle if you want to use SSL), run ISP and probably also use it as CES (NFS) node in smaller clusters. But that is what we are doing today (on our GSS and Lenovo DSS-G clusters). And I don't know what we'll come up with tomorrow and I don't want to file a RFE every time we need another package from the RHEL distribution that you don't ship with the ESS bundle.
Other vendors do this and also IBM has done it in the past, so it should not be that exotic what we request :)
Can you provide more specific information on what you are trying to do with ESS?
