IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

  3. Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Storwize does not provide guidance for volume sizes

Storage Products in the portfolio do NOT provide performance based advice/guidance on running environments. For Example: I want to create a 16PB volume; Spectrum Virtualize instead recommends a more sensible volume size range.

Capability to generate a "application consistent" snapshot on a secondary when replicating data with new policy-based async replication

Scenario is quite simple: client wants to generate an "application consistent" snapshot on his secondary site while data are replicated using new policy-based replication. To do so client will freeze I/O on primary site once application is in a co...

Better vendor-independent monitoring

Currently SMI-S is the only supported vendor-neutral API. We have 5 vendors in our storage environment. The SNIA Swordfish API is not currently implemented by either vendor, with only timid hints at future implementations. We need to have professi...

Change how SVC GUI pool percentages are calculated

Currently, the SVC GUI calculates pool utilization (volumes by pool section) by utilized / virtual capacity. This gives you a false sense of utilization because if you're overprovisioned, you will hit the physical capacity and the pool will go rea...
