IBM System Storage Ideas Portal

This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).

Shape the future of IBM!

We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Search existing ideas

Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,

Post your ideas
  1. Post an idea.

  2. Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.

TSM Server version history

Sometimes it is necessary to known what time you did run which version on your TSM server. For example when you may affected by an APAR(IC71049) which should be fixed in the current version you are running, but you still have older volumes affecte...

Lack of integration with IBM Spectrum Protect

Lack of an integration between IBM Spectrum Protect (SP) and IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management (CDM) using Pure Storage. Lack of this functionality is a major road block to deploy/adoption a supported combination of Pure, CDM and SP solution.

policy admins need ability to remove replication configuration in order to remove node

Relabel-On-Scratch option for external library manager

When TSM Server recycles (frees) a virtual tape of a VTL this is eliminated from the TSM DB, but not from the VTL. So statistics e.g. Dedup factor are distorted over time. To prevent from this the TSM Relabel-on-Scratch option was introduced. But ...

Improve TSM Replication over high latency WAN links

I would like a TSM server option that would allow TSM to use as many parallel TCP connections as possible in order to maximize throughput along a Long Fat Pipe (WAN link w/ >60ms latency between TSM servers). Alternatively, I would like the TSM...

ALLOWREORGTABLE as a TSM command

It would be nice if ALLOWREORGTABLE were a TSM command and we didn't have to restart the server and change the dsmserv.opt file. Production systems can't afford to take down the server and start the server in order to make a change like that.

Update Behavior of TSM Node Fields

The update behavior of several Node fields seems to be strange. e.g. The Field LASTACC_TIME is defined as the "The last date and time that the client node accessed the server". When a node with nodename NodeA tries to logon to a tsm server the ser...
