BVIR History Data Retention to be Increased in IBM TS7700

IBM TS7700 Stores its history information in its database but only stores previous 90 days worth of data which can be extracted using BVIR from the host and then graphically displayed using VEHSTATS. This 90 days worth of data & VEHSTATS is useful to do analysis on the TS7700 for a specific day/date whereas 90 days of data is just not enough for doing any sort of accurate trend or predictive analysis using IBM Watson which could be more helpful for our customers in predicting any unusual trends that could be existing in the TS7700 but was going unnoticed. IBM TS7700 should keep at least 1 year(more the merrier) worth of previous data which could be then further fed into IBM Watson so that its trend finding and predictive power be used to find any anomalies or growth for our customers.

Users can accomplish this by creating BVIR tapes on a regular schedule (e.g. every month) and retain those tapes as long as they wish, including up to a year or longer. They can then perform analysis on any combination of BVIR tapes needed to cover the desired time period. Alternatively user can cut SMF records using the Tape Toolkit, and perform their analysis using those SMF records.
