Detaching BVIR processing from IBMTOOLS - Integration in TS7700 GUI

Hi,

every TS7700 user knows the procedure with downloading ibmload, ibmcntl, ibmjcl... from the ibmtools library etc.

This is necessary to be able to further process BVIR data generated by the system on the zos. In order to be able to process new TS7700 fields and data, IBM has to adapt BVIR programs after each new release or fix. All customers have to download the new programs from ibmtools to get information about the new fields and they have to process the BVIR data supplied by the system with the updated programs on the zOS system.

In order to be able to establish an automated process, the data should be accessible externally.

It would be nice if the TS7700 system could already prepare the BVIR data for download as an integral part of the TS7700 so that not every customer would have to load the latest programs from the IBM tools library again and again and process them via batch job on the zos.

Thanks

The plan would to export this data with Rest API. We are also working to update Tape Tools to also support this new format. This is a few years off

Hi, it is important to access the data by batch, too. We run different BVIR reports with job scheduling systems. Do you plan to keep all the fields and reports as they are to avoid changing all the existing reports? Thanks!

We are investigating exporting this data via REST API. Would this assist?
