This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

When doing fusion GDP backups to S3, fusion is doing a snapshot and then after a clone using mmxcp. This clone is then transferred to S3. When doing it on production systems, this clone is wasting space on production filesystem (i.e flash) as we need to "double" the capacity used to maintain the clone until it is transferred to S3.
We need a specific storage class so that this clone done can be done over a specific "backup filesystem" ( i.e, not A/A, not flash, cheaper storage) and then transferred to S3
This should also include QoS as well ( if not, 10 simultaneous backups can collapse the network as there is a high bandwidth)
We suffered outages as generating multiple backups at the same time filled production filesystem stopping the whole cluster

I merged your idea with SPFUS-I-91, since your problem should be solved by using shallow clones.
