TSM awareness on the health of DB2

We experienced an event whereby, due to some hardware error, a DB2 proces db2sync, was killed by the OS.

This event was recorded in the db2diag.log and in the /var/adsm/messages file.

There was no external evidence that this event occurred, that is to say, TSM was not made aware that this event occurred and therefore there was no indications in the TSM activity log that anything unusual has happened.
The result was that TSM activities stopped functioning, scheduled admin tasks were not executed, backups did not run. TSM remained responsive, in that we could login to the server with an admin account and we wre able to query the system. As I mentioned earlier, there was no evidence from a TSM perspective that TSM was in trouble.

A restart of TSM was needed to return TSM to normal operations.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) Family

Thank you for submitting this request and our apologies for the delayed response. We understand the requirement and feel that it is valid. Unfortunately it is not in alignment with our multi-year strategy. We are exploring alternative solutions though nothing is currently in plan to be delivered in the near term.

    Hello,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Was unaware of the communication process for RFE's. In answer to your question, the services request number was 04236,072,649

    Regards, Peter

    Hello,

Is there a PMR # or service call that was done for this issue?

    Thanks...
