Hello,

The tech note tells me do not backup the guests using one schedule due to the 512 charter limitation. We want to use one schedule. Currently TSM for VE backup schedules will only backup one schedule at a time, if the schedule doesn't complete before the next schedule start time the scheduled backup task missed.

Currently we have 4 schedules
DAILY_VE_INCREMENTAL - Backups start at 5:30pm
DAILY_VE_INCREMENTAL2 - Backups start at 8:00pm
DAILY_VE_INCREMENTAL3 - Backups start at 10:30pm
DAILY_VE_INCREMENTAL4 - Backups start at 3:00am


We currently backup 234 VM guests we backup nightly, and we are missing complete schedules because we cannot complete a schedule consistently before the next scheduled start time. This is becoming an issue!

    In future you can use VMware tags to select vm's for backup. Is there no way to select vm's by a common idetifier. I was naming all my vm's for backup by adding a suffix (e.g. vm1_bkp). So my domain.vmfull looked like this: domain.vmfull *_bkp.

    Hello, I confirm your RFE. There are a lot options missing for selecting vm's for backup. I would like to have an option to store a list of vm's in ISP database. The 512 character limitation was a problem for me too, because of missing options to select vm's like annotations, ... (competitors are providing this for some time).
    Why don't you run multiple data movers instances in parallel?
