DECOM / DEACTIVATE by future date

Requesting DECOMM VM, DECOMM NODE and/or DEACTIVATE commands be enhanced to allow specifying a future date.

This could be parsed during EXPIRE, or possibly some other operation that gives more notice.

Alternatively, if DEACTIVATE could be modified to accept more than just Oracle filespaces, and take a management class as an option, it could be used to rebind a decommed node to some policy with a different RETAIN ONLY setting, and all of the usual expiration would take place from there.

    Thanks, IBM Dev.

It looks like everything my customer has come up with as a need would be satisfied by a DECOMM * DATE=blah parameter in both CLI and OpCenter, and DATE= would simply create an admin schedule for that future date that ran the DECOMM * command without the date parameter. This would not require additional schema, nor would it be a complex effort to code, QC, or debug.

I do not know if a "list of future decomm status" pane would be needed, but I can see that as being a follow-on ask by the community.

Apologies for reiterating. I'm not hammering on this, just documenting semantics for posterity.

This request may not be delivered within the release currently under development, but the theme is aligned with the current multi-year strategy. IBM may consider and evaluate any RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.

Though, upon further reflection, perhaps this might be better as an operation center widget for creating an admin schedule to decom a node or VM in the future. Hrmmm...
