When tape data is encrypted, but Spectrum Scale recall cache and Stub files are not, how do we encrypt those without recalling the data off tape?

Using both Storage Archive and Storage Scale system (ESS) we need to be able to encrypt the data on ESS without impacting or recalling the tape data (Which is already encryped via the TS4500 Library). The client will be migratiing from Gen2 ESS to ESS3500 with SED. Thay already use GKLM for key management. How can we migrate the ESS data (metadata and stub files as well) to new encrypted volumes without impacting the data on tape?

Per our email. exchange . closing this request ...

The plan is to use ESS 3.5k with encrypted SED and use them to extend the existing unencrypted file system used for live files and stubs of files from the tape library. Then restripe the file system to move the data to the new NSDs (which are encrypted SEDs), and once done, remove the old disks from the unencrypted file system. In the end, the data will reside on encrypted SEDs, as required by the customer. The restripe operation will not trigger a recall from the tape library, so in principle, only the data on the existing file system (live files and stubs) will be moved. at this point in time there is a high level of confidence that restripefs will not trigger a recall from tape, as verified in the lab using an HSM device (same DMAPI code).
