SVC/Storwize doesn't generate errors on certain conditions that are serious problems

Certain types of errors on the SVC and Storwize family of products that represent an actual problem with the system are flagged as warnings. Among these are error 1138, which represents an external loss of power. This is an event that warrants customer action, but a warning may be lost, leading to an issue that persists.

It is unlikely that 1138 is the only error classed this way.

    This issues has been resolved.

    Note that the 'Error' vs 'Warning' classification in the CLI has no connection to severity, which is a common misunderstanding. Errors and Warning both have customer action required, check error message, run fix, etc.

    The difference is:

    Errors also call out to IBM Support

    Warnings do not call out to IBM


    However, there is also TCC request for configurable notifications, which is a roadmap candidate. See link below:

    This is getting worked under RFE 126302 RTC 56777, which in turn is getting moved to Spectrum Control.
