SVC HyperSwap and FlashCopy restrictions

In theory HyperSwap seems more appealing than an SVC stretched cluster and have some advantages regarding cross-site traffic and in case of an site failure.

But if you also plan to use the FlashCopy technology, there are some restrictions I have been informed about:

When combining FlashCopy technology with HyperSwap, there are some restrictions:

- It is not possible to take a FlashCopy onto a HyperSwap volume (the FlashCopy target cannot have the same redundancy the source volumes have)

- Due to the restriction mentioned above, if a HyperSwap volume is the source of a FlashCopy, it is not possible to reverse the FlashCopy.

- Similar to traditional MetroMirror, HyperSwap volumes have a master volume and an auxiliary volume. The master volume resides on one Storwize control enclosure and the auxiliary volume is on the second control enclosure. FlashCopy can only exist on the Stowize that contains the master volume.

Please, do the necessary changes to remove these restrictions for combining HyperSwap and FlashCopy.

This RFE has been declined. However, please see RFE 106243 for HyperSwap enhancement:
