Minimizing IO delays when a node in a SVC cluster goes down or restarts.

System: The customer's large production systems where SVC is used
Actor: Users requesting to improve the quality of SVC

SVC is used to manage the customer's large storage systems which are used by many mission critical servers. To minimize IO failures, the customer configures clusters of SVCs.

Description: The customer complains the behavior of SVCs where IOs are delayed when a node in a SVC cluster goes down or restarts. The customer is showing the three cases of IO delays described in the following attachment.
SVC_decreasing_IO_delays_on_nodedown_20170918D.ppt
Please look at the diagrams and comments in the attachment. I hope that you try to consider how to implement new functions or to improve SVC code to meet the customer's requirements. If you think that it is hard to implement these functions from technical point of view, please let us know why you think so. The customer is also asking us if the developers of SVC are recognizing how harmful this delay is for SVC users. The customer is wondering if there is any code modification between 7.4.x and 7.8.x to shorten these delays. If you have made any modification, please let us know how you have modified the code and how much time it can shorten the delay.
