FIPS 140-2 Certification needed for SVC/Storwize - to allow products to be bid in RFPs that require this

EMC, HDS, NetApp and others have made their products FIPS 140-2 CERTIFIED. Now that SVC/Virtualize/Storwize are delivering Encryption support - the support does not meet this requirement and there are currently no firm plans to do so.

EMC/HDS/others are making this line item a requirement in many Public Sector RFPs in North America. When included, it excludes, or at a minimum makes it very difficult for IBM team to respond with any of our products running Storwize code. When Encryption was first designed into product, FIPS 140-2 Certification was considered and not included as the market did not warrant that.

Today - the market conditions have changed - multiple vendors are CERTIFIED and are trying to exclude IBM from proposing solutions in many RFPs in Public Sector (US/Canada government, and others).
