This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Presently, SVC caching of vdisks is (correctly) enabled by default in read/write mode, though it is possible to disable at the vdisk level. In some circumstances, for example when using all-flash arrays as backing storage, we find it beneficial to disable cache on vdisks on such storage. Currently, we can only do this by identifying all volumes on the mdisk group that represents the flash storage and manually disabling cache for each of those volumes (vdisks). If a new vdisk is created on that mdisk group, cache is enabled by default and must be manually disabled. It would be beneficial to have an option at the mdisk group level to exclude vdisks on that mdisk group from cache. This would mean that if a new vdisk were created in that mdisk group, cache would be disabled by default. Ideally, it would be possible to disable cache at the mdisk group level via the CLI and the GUI.
