This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

Firmware version 7.1.x - when attempting to send an email via SMTP, the SVC incorrectly requests a TLS handshake. If the mailserver does support/run TLS and accepts this request, the SVC email then fails as the SVC itself does not support TLS.
This is also the same for the IBM V7000 array that runs the same code.
See the following when running a test email from the SVC:
The task has started.
Running command:
svctask testemail 4
CLI returned error message: CMMVC6280E Sendmail error EX_TEMPFAIL. The sendmail command could not create a connection to a remote system.
Synchronizing memory cache.
The task is 100% complete.
The task completed with errors.
And this error is logged in the events:
Event ID Text Unable to send e-mail to any of the configured e-mail servers
Error Code 3081

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize
For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Tivoli
Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize
They are Windows 2003 servers running a the standard built in SMTP service. 2 PMR's have been raised in the past for this issue (019KYMG and 01921XS), on both occasions I was informed the problem is due to the microcode incorrectly requesting a start TLS at the beginning of the emails.
Can you explain which email server you're using so we can determine if we've tested with that type. Also it seems that a problem management record (PMR) being opened would be a more natural approach for this issue. Thanks.
