I have many future installations needing to have SVC nativity to support 6 and 8 HBA configurations without needing to create multiple Host entries for the same host. Today if i assign HBA to Node 1 port 1, HBA 2 node 2 Port2, HBA 3 Node1 Port 3...etc. It works.. But the system shows degraded. Which is not something we can have in the production environment. We also can not have our admin's manually splitting luns between multiple host entries. We need to have 1 host entry and assign all luns in a 6 or 8 HBA configuration to. Please contact me on this if needed. I need a fix for this in the next couple months if possible as we are planning to deploy PB's of SVC but i need it to work correctly. I have reached out to Bill Wiegan discussing this also. .

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
Brand - Tivoli
Product family - Storage

I spoke with Jamie today and this one is a show stopper. This HBA arrangement is how Emerson has many servers in their SAN today and they do not which to re-design it. Jamie would welcome a phone discussion with SVC product management to discuss this and other enhancement requests. As I understand it, what he is asking for works, it is supported, but the GUI shows degraded mode (even though it really is not degraded) and will not allow a firmware update in that state. This is unacceptable to Emerson.
Emerson is a big XIV customer and could be a huge showcase for IBM as first XIV and now SVC and V3700 are gradually replacing their EMC environment with huge additional potential business for TSM and IBM tape libraries. We need to get this done as we are talking potentially 6 PB of managed disk behind SVC in the Emerson environment!
