SVC Global Mirror with Change Volumes. Force a remote sync cycle on demand.

Need a way to achieve an "application consistent" remote sync point on demand, without the need to pause the application for a full cycle period. Need to pause the application for 5 seconds or less. That is, need GMCV to perform like Traditional GM when pausing the application to capture a PiT copy of the application at the DR site.

Current sequence to gain GMCV application consistent is listed below. Step 2 needs to be less than 5 seconds, rather than more than 5 minutes.

1. Pause application (e.g., Hot Backup) to flush cache
2. Wait until freeze time is later than quiesce time (5+ min)
3. Stop GM relationship
4. Restart application
4. FlashCopy secondary copy
5. Restart GM relationship
