Automatically send audit log records to an external receiver

Currently audit logging is only stored on a cluster. It can be downloaded using 'catauditlog' or 'dumpauditlog'.

Like the external syslog receivers, it should be possible to automatically send audit log records to an external receiver like RSA Nvision or any other syslog-like enabled receiver.

Due to processing by IBM, this request was reassigned to have the following updated attributes:
Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:
    Brand - Tivoli
    Product family - Storage
Product - IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller (SVC) / Spectrum Virtualize

Thanks for the inputs, Ilja, we have move the status into an area where we will seek to bring this option into as near a release as possible.

    Hi,
using the syslog method would make the most sense IMHO. A separate syslog server/receiver configuration panel for audit records would be a valid option as well. I see no reason why this would need to be a different protocol, udp/tcp 514 (default syslog) would seem fine.
Integration into the current syslog event stream would be an acceptable option too.

Our central solution is HP ArcSight, which uses Common Event Format (you know that format : http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/igsec/v1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.guardium91.doc%2Fappendices%2Ftopics%2Fcef_mapping.html) but I respect this format might not be suitable for other IBM Storwize users. I consider default syslog format a requirement, the CEF format is an added bonus.

I hope this answers your question or validates your conclusion from this RFE.

    Cheers.

We recognize that you want to send audit logs to an external receiver for a central solution. One such could be the Syslog. However, we just want to validate this is the central solution you are focused on supporting, as that will affect which protocol we'd need to use to implement this.
