It would be desirable to get this feature as soon as possible. I think there should be self-interest from IBM to stand behind it. The SVC is sold as an OS-independent system, so should be the Comprestimator...
That is a importet Tool for us. We need it. Pleas inegratet it.
Idee:
An internel Batchjob calculate the estimatet compressionsaving per volume, that isn't compressed. (One time per week or day?) An this value is with checkbox activatibel in the view from the Volumes.

Based on the number of requests and mentions, we are moving this back to the status of "uncommitted candidate" and will reconsider its priority against other requirements for the Storwize Family of products. Whether resolved directly or as a part of the Storage Resource Manager of VSC (TPC) remains to be determined.
While this is a good request and certainly desirable, we've determined this is not a requirement which will be met in the near term for the Storwize Family of products. Please address any concerns over this with your IBM sales representatives. We hope our priorities can be adjusted to include it in a later release. The tool will allow you to re-open this request should you desire to in 1-2 years.
This is being actively worked to deliver comprestimator without the need for an external server.
#Publish Development and product management are sizing the effort to do this and setting a priority. I will respond again in the coming weeks once we have determined where it would fall in our priority list.
And/or make it available to TPC so that based on the scanned data or via TPCs function to run scripts a user can estimate the compression results from a central point.
