Monitor volumes occupation via IBM Block Storage CSI (container storage interface) driver

My customer wants to request an enhancement to IBM Block Storage CSI (container storage interface) driver. In summary my customer is using OCP 4.6 (openshift container platform) and they use the metering system provided by the product (Prometheus). They have installed (IBM Block Storage SCI 1.5.1).

They want to monitor the occupation of the volumes requested and managed through spectrum but they are not able to find metrics of the type ‘kubele_volume_*' (for instance: kubelet_volume_stats_available_bytes) in the IBM driver as they do in other drivers (nfs, hostpath, trident).

This is the driver version they have installed (IBM Block Storage SCI 1.5.1.

These are the images they have:
quay.io/k8scsi/csi-node-driver-registrar:v2.0.1
quay.io/k8scsi/csi-snapshotter:v3.0.0
quay.io/k8scsi/csi-resizer:v1.0.0
quay.io/k8scsi/csi-attacher:v3.0.0
quay.io/k8scsi/csi-provisioner:v2.0.2
quay.io/k8scsi/livenessprobe:v2.1.0
ibmcom/ibm-block-csi-driver-controller:1.5.1
ibmcom/ibm-block-csi-driver-node:1.5.1
ibmcom/ibm-block-csi-operator:1.5.1

I was told that IBM did not implement metrics for the CSI driver, so my customer is requesting to implement/expose such metrics in the driver.
