This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

“How IBM FlashSystem can recognize the possible cyber ransomware attack?”
The ransomware do data encryption. Most of our Clients uses data that are eligible for compression and the average ratio is around 2:1. The idea is to measure compression ratio trends on vdisk level (built in comprestimator "analyzevdiskbysystem") to recognize rapid changes and alert about those vdisks with lower "day to day" compression as candidates of an possible attack. Why vdisk level? To achieve the alert faster, global measurement on DRP or FCM level could be to slow and do not show possible affected hosts. On top of this not all systems uses compression on all vdisks.
The "analyzevdiskbysystem" process do not impact array performance at all and what is simply needed is to perform the analyzes, download results to e.g. Spectrum Control and show trends. The best solution is to have build in function in GUI in FlashSystem.

NEW in-line ransomware detection was delivered in 8.6.0 (2Q23).
This is much beyond simple volume level compression statistics. The system calculates entropy measurements on I/O and reports to Storage Insights:

From a capacity management perspective, it is also useful to make volume level compression metrics more visible on the GUI. There is a separate Idea here:
