This portal is to open public enhancement requests against IBM System Storage products. To view all of your ideas submitted to IBM, create and manage groups of Ideas, or create an idea explicitly set to be either visible by all (public) or visible only to you and IBM (private), use the IBM Unified Ideas Portal (https://ideas.ibm.com).
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:
Start by searching and reviewing ideas and requests to enhance a product or service. Take a look at ideas others have posted, and add a comment, vote, or subscribe to updates on them if they matter to you. If you can't find what you are looking for,
Post an idea.
Get feedback from the IBM team and other customers to refine your idea.
Follow the idea through the IBM Ideas process.

The functionality to enable this would be the same as what's required to allow reduction of an mdisk by any rational number of drives, or even in-place RAID level changes. Reshaping an array is a basic function that's been available in other solutions for 15 years.
Now that customers are forced to use DRAID, the ability to expand an MDISK is a must. With the size of current drives, it is very difficult to purchase a large amount of disks to build a large MDISK on each purchase. It is impossible to justify reserving 2 expensive NVMe drives for redundancy every time the storage is expanded.
This functionally is a must, finding out this limitation after purchasing a brand new V7000 GEN 3 was absolutely shocking. This is a very important feature to have.
We need this functionality, been waiting for it for 6 years.
