V7000 and SVC replication via onboard IP links

We'd like to request the ability for the Storwize V7000 and SVC to be able to replicate via Global Mirror using the onboard IP ports on the V7000/SVC. This will eliminate the need to use 3rd devices for FCIP translation and simplify the current and future replication schemes of many of our clients (we are an IBM Business Partner).

Brand - Servers and Systems Software
    Product family - Storage
    Product - IBM Storwize V7000, V5000 and V3000

For recording keeping, the previous attributes were:

Isn't this implemented in the 7.2 release?

The best thing is that it would eliminate the need for Fibre channel over IP. It is too much of an expense. We lose deals with customers due to this necessity.

Native IP replication would be nice to have. Consider, however, that you would then lose some of the FCIP capabilities such as compression and I/O Acceleration which would either have to be implemented with other solutions or built into the native IP code.

We've lost two opportunities recently because of this missing functionality. EMC has won in both case.

Feature is vital for V7000 which is positioned as midrange storage. Usually costs of FCIP infrastructure required to replicate data over IP links is so high that customer is looking for a competitive solution with native IP replication.

Eliminates the expense and complexity of routing fibre channel. The ports are already there, lets use them!

Native IP Replication for SVC/SV7000 would be good. Eliminates FCIP requirement.

The customers that are looking for a replication solution would prefer to use the onboard IP ports. This would eliminate the need for add on FCIP translation equipment.

Seems like a basic feature that even entry level low end competitor units already have.

What this is impacting is new customers. Without IP replication we have an extremely hard time bringing midsized customers into the v7000 solution... We often loose our place at the table without this functionality.
