Audit logs for six months

Audit logs – currently it goes back 2 months, but customer needs it to be for six months at least – compliance requirement.

    Thank you for submitting this enhancement request. This capability is provided by remote syslog.

    When remote syslog is configured, the audit logs can be retained for 6 months, or as long as you want.

    NIST 800-171 requires organizations to "create and retain system audit logs and records" to support monitoring, investigation, and reporting of unauthorized activity, but it does not mandate that the logs remain on the originating system. [csf.tools]

    NIST 800-53 AU-11 requires audit records to be retained for an organization-defined period and be available for investigations and regulatory needs; again, storage location is not prescribed. [csf.tools]

    PCI DSS requires retaining audit logs for at least 12 months (with recent logs readily available), but centralized logging/SIEM retention is a common and accepted implementation.
